The Scrap Weeks.10 Fabric Coaster

My husband recently made us a beautiful dining room table that he is very proud of.  It was quite the project for him...mostly because of me.  Even though the table was meant to look weathered with dents, bruises, and scratches, I'm sure the last thing he wants on his new table are cup rings.  So today I am making a set of coasters to protect it from ever having that problem.

You Will Need:
Scrap Fabric
Padding
Sewing Machine & Thread

Cut:
Two 4 1/2" by 4 1/2" for the coaster.
One 4" by 4" for the padding.

Lay one piece with right side facing up, then lay the other piece right side facing down on top of the first.

On top of the second piece, lay your padding and pin the whole thing in place.

Sew a 1/4" around all four sides leaving 2" open to flip out.  Back stitch at the beginning and end.  (The padding may not be part of the seam, unless you catch it in the stitch)

Flip right side out making sure to push the corners out and smooth the padding on the inside.  Fold the open end under and press in place.

Top stitch around all four sides and diagonally from corner to corner.  And that's it!
