Movie Inspiration

The first time I watched Cry Baby, I was about 7 years old.  We were visiting family in California and I was exhausted from playing run around with my siblings and cousins so I went inside and plopped down on the couch.  My dad's uncle was sitting in his big lounge chair smackin' on some peanuts or something.  I remember thinking how funny people are when they watch tv, or really just how lazy.  Then I looked to see what his interest on the tube was all about...
Wade "Cry Baby" Walker was singing King Cry-Baby.  Just then I understood what all the smackin' was about.  How was someone supposed to focus on eating proper when a scene like that was on.  Everything about the movie sucked me in.  The music, the cars, the hair, the makeup, the clothes!  Was I born in the wrong generation?  Maybe it was just Traci Lords, her bad self, and her stylistic perfection that made me want to be her.
Of course, being 7 and having the attention span of, well, a 7 year old, I didn't watch the whole movie.  But years later when I did, that same warm feeling came back to me.  Yeah, yeah, it may be a corny musical to some people, but I love it, and the inspiration I get when I watch it.  Or watched.  I only have it in VHS, and go figure, I don't have a VHS player.

Anyway, enough about that.  Here are a few outfits from the movie that have always inspired me:

In these photos, Traci Lords is wearing a classic halter pencil dress with large buttons down the front.  The look is finished with a waist belt.

Middle front, Traci Lords is wearing a three quarter length pencil skirt, a simple black blouse, a black leather jacket, and a red neck scarf.

I love the green halter top Amy Locane is wearing with her high waisted, black leather capri pants.

...speaking of cry baby, I've got a tired kid on my hands.
