Women and Trousers

Katharine Hepburn and Marlene Dietrich were the first women to help make the trouser trend acceptable in the 1930's.

During WWII, trousers were worn by women working in factories, as it was more convenient.  Post-war, trousers became acceptable for leisure wear.  It wasn't until the 1960's that the trousers were introduced as a "fashion item", which then lead to the pantsuit and designer jeans.

Trousers typically have pleats just below the waistband on the front, cuffs or turn-ups at the bottom of the pant leg, a fly, and some may or may not have belt loops depending on the style.  A very classy pant that can be worn in a casual or formal manner.
