The Classic Pencil Skirt

The pencil skirt was first introduced in the late 1940's by French designer Christian Dior.  It originated from the Hobble skirt, which was worn tight just below the knee and slowed the wearer's stride.  The pencil skirt was designed with a narrow cut, a high-waist, that was slim-fitting, and usually was worn at knee-length.

Today, pencil skirts are still very popular.  Pairing the skirt with the right top and accessories can give many different looks:

A nice blouse, tucked in, with a strand of pearls, a simple clutch, and heels would give a vintage feel for a beatiful evening look.

For a great and easy office look, a simple button-up, tucked in, worn with a belt, earrings, and high heels.

Even an oversized sweater accessorized with a belt, a pair of flats, and a dainty necklace will give off a casual yet elegant look.
